Charleston Southern is one of South Carolina’s largest accredited, independent universities. The institution was founded in 1964 by The South Carolina Baptist Convention, as the Baptist College at Charleston. Its campus is just 16 miles away from Charleston, and well within the city limits of North Charleston. The name of the institution was changed in 1990 to reflect the offerings of its graduate programs.
